You Were Born with Greatness

The Way You Are Striving for Greatness May Not Be Serving Your Overall Wellbeing and Longevity

February 19, 20253 min read

As high-performing women, we are driven. We thrive on ambition, purpose, and the pursuit of greatness. Every day is an opportunity to achieve more, be more, and lead with impact.

But here’s a question that often goes unasked: Is the way you’re striving for greatness actually serving your long-term wellbeing and longevity?

-

The pressure to succeed, excel, and do it all can lead to an unsustainable pace. It’s easy to become so focused on the finish line that we neglect the most important aspect of our journey: our health and wellbeing.

In the pursuit of professional success, we often sacrifice rest, personal time, and mental space, not realizing that the very thing we’re working so hard for could be compromising our own wellbeing.

The Hidden Costs of Constant Striving
Striving for greatness is not inherently bad. It’s our drive and determination that often propel us to achieve remarkable things. But when that striving becomes relentless, the toll it takes can be immense. Stress, burnout, and physical exhaustion are just a few of the signs that something isn’t right. The more we push, the more our bodies and minds suffer.

The real cost is not seen in the moment. Instead, it’s the impact on our longevity, that is, the long-term effects on our physical and mental health and wellness.

The mindset of “more is better” can often lead to a cycle of overworking and under-caring for ourselves, leaving us stuck in a pattern that ultimately drains our energy, happiness, and effectiveness.

Rewriting the Narrative and Striving for Greatness
It’s time to reframe how we approach greatness. What if wellbeing in mind, body, spirit,  and even relationships were set as the foundation of our success? Rather than seeing rest, self-care, and balance as obstacles to our ambition, what if they were the very things that fueled and sustained our greatness?

To create a life of long-term success, we must start focusing on sustainable achievement, not just quick wins. This means embracing practices that protect our energy, preserve our mental clarity, and ensure that we can continue showing up fully for the long haul.

-

Here are 3 Ways to Redefine Your Path to Greatness:

  1. Prioritize Rest: Greatness does not come from constant action. It comes from balance. Taking time to rest and recharge helps you perform at your best, both physically and mentally.

  2. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to things that don’t serve your long-term goals or wellbeing. Protect your time, energy, and space so that you can focus on what truly matters.

  3. Cultivate Mindfulness: Mindfulness practices like meditation, deep breathing, and reflection help you stay grounded, focused, and clear. These tools allow you to manage stress and improve your overall mental and emotional health.

The Bottom Line is that:
Striving for greatness is commendable but if it’s not aligned with your health and longevity, it can lead to burnout, unfulfilled success and even chronic illness.

True greatness lies in how well we care for ourselves while we pursue our ambitions. By prioritizing wellbeing, we not only ensure that our success is sustainable, but we also create the space to enjoy the journey and thrive for years to come.

Now, it’s your time to redefine what greatness looks like. Your wellbeing is the ultimate foundation for your success. Take care of yourself, and watch how your brilliance shines even brighter!
